SYNOPSIS: Papier Accordéon unfolds over 24 hours with alternating narratives of the day in the life of two long-distance friends, corresponding in respective isolation. Sharing fleeting whispers as if finishing each other's sentences, 547km apart. Shot in Super8, the film uses language and subtitles to capture the experience of being lost in translation.
SERIES: This film is a part of Otherly, a series of seven short documentaries about belonging in the age of ephemeral media. The creators are female, non-binary, and genderqueer, whose voices aren’t always heard. Co-produced by the National Film Board of Canada and POV Spark (production arm of PBS).
